Pet Corner

Studies have shown that having a pet in our life may have a calming effect, reduce stress and control anxiety. Children that grow up with pets are less likely to get sick.

So let’s take care of our furry friends by feeding them well and taking them out for plenty of exercise.

Cook 1 whole chicken in 10 cups of water over low heat. Let slow cook until meat falls off of bones.
Remove bones.
Add 2 cups of brown rice, 2 cups whole oatmeal, 2 large peeled and diced sweet potatoes, 4 cans of sardines, 2 cups peanut butter, 2 cups blueberries, 1 large can of pumpkin.

Continue to cook on low for 30 minutes.
Take potato masher and mash all of the ingredients together.
Let cool
Place spoonfuls on baking sheet covered in wax paper. You could also use your hands and form them into balls.
Place in freezer.
When frozen, remove and place in plastic freezer bags.
Keep frozen until ready to use.
My dogs love them frozen.

I will make them different sizes to match the size of the dog.

According to a study done by Enzo Emanuele, Department of Animal Biology, University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy, aggressive dogs blood levels showed that they were low in Omega 3 fatty acids. When the dogs were fed foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids they showed a huge improvement with less aggression.

So many of our dogs don’t get fed properly. As dog owners we need to make sure our dogs have a healthy diet with plenty of  Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are found in fish.  My dog cookie recipe has sardines in it. Sardines are a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids.
